On the 23rd December 2003, Senior Instructor N4 trained the crew in the use of the newly installed gound monitor. The drill session extended into evening and allowed the members to have an idea of the usual problems encountered with night operations.
After positioning the monitor, and running out two 70mm delivery lines with one 70mm suction line, it was time to see the monitor in action. As expected, we started to overrun supply and ran in a second suction line.
With the system up and running, and the pumper at work, each member had a play at adjusting elevation, angle and water flow. The field was left well and truely watered.
So the Station now has a new piece of equipment on the inventory, waiting at the station to be used whenever the situation arises.
