15/02/2005 1727Hrs. Rescue Pumper responded to Hazmat incident at local waste transfer depot at Salamander Bay. Fire fighters in Hazmat Suits recovered a small amount of potassium chloride, placing in safe container and leaving for Police to dispose.

On arrival found waste asbestos had been dumped on bush track, firefighters wearing protection collected material and placed in drums leaving area safe. Local crew were also supported by Hazmat Unit from Newcastle 260 Station.
