02/07/2003 1725Hrs. MVA Nelson Bay and cleaned up minor oil spill.

02/07/2003 2344Hrs. Called to assist Ambulance Officers remove patient with back injuries from unit at Corlette using stokes litter.

04/07/2003 1509Hrs. Called to assist Ambulance Officers remove patient from second floor unit at Shoal Bay.

04/07/2003 2101Hrs. Responded to Automatic Fire Alarm at Shoal Bay and on arrival found air conditioning fan motor had overheated and caught fire. Extinguished with carbon dioxide extinguisher. Fifty people evacuated from premises.

07/07/2003 2143Hrs. Called to Bush Fire at Salamander Bay. On arrival found abandoned bonfire which was extinguished using garden hose.

09/07/2003 2240Hrs. Pumper attended to a bin alight at Salamander Bay which had been extinguished by civilians.

10/07/2003 1606Hrs. Diesel oil spills at Nelson Bay were cleaned up with assistance from local council equipment.

11/07/2003 1140Hrs. Responded to assist Police with a boat fire at North Arm Cove. Requested by Police to standby at Soldiers Point with ambulance. Vessel burnt to waterline and sank.

11/07/2003 1223Hrs. While returning to station, the pumper was diverted to an alarm ringing at Corlette. On arrival found domestic smoke alarm was sounding for no reason and was disconnected.

12/07/2003 1432Hrs. Called to a car fire at Nelson Bay and on arrival found that fire was almost extinguished by civilians.

14/07/2003 1125Hrs. Pumper and crew attended apartment building and stood by with Police and Ambulance officers until lift mechanic arrived and relesed three children from stalled lift.

20/07/2003 0310Hrs. Pumper and crew attended to report of a car fire at Salamander Bay, extinguished a sedan using appliance hose reel.

20/07/2003 0332Hrs. Pumper re-assigned to MVA Persons Trapped at Anna Bay. Called off enroute and returned to assist Composite which was responded to car fire incident.

24/07/2003 1654Hrs. Called to MVA Nelson Bay. On arrival found single vehicle had left road and struck a tree, driver was not injured and not trapped and area checked for fuel or oil leaks.

24/07/2003 2118Hrs. Pumper and crew responded to smoke coming from Nelson Bay house power outlet. Switched power off and checked for any further fire. Power circuit left isolated and told occupant to arrange for repairs.

26/07/2003 1535Hrs. Called to a false alarm call of a bin alight at Salamander Bay.

31/07/2003 0111Hrs. Called to bins alight at Nelson Bay. On arrival found fifteen mobile bins well engulfed in fire, extinguished using appliance high pressure hose reel.

Incidents for August 2003.

04/08/2003 2120Hrs. Called to Oil on Road Nelson Bay. On arrival found a sedan had collided with the rear of a boat and trailer and driven off. Engine oil had escaped from damaged area and was dumped on roadway, covered with absorbant to make safe.

06/08/2003 0940Hrs. Composite and crew assisted Rural fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife with a hazard reduction burn near Nelson Bay.

13/08/2003 0849Hrs. Oil on Road at Salamander Bay, Pumper responded and crew rendered area safe.

19/08/2003 1004Hrs. Pumper and crew responde to MVA at Shoal Bay and cleaned up minor fluid leaks.

21/08/2003 1050Hrs. Pumper called to Male trapped under tree at Corlette. On arrival found male had fallen from tree and Ambulance Officers required assistance to retrieve patient.

22/08/2003 1028Hrs. Called to oil on roadway at Nelson Bay. Area made safe.

23/08/2003 0222Hrs. Responded to a call of LPG odour at Nelson Bay. On arrival found that odour had come from a LPG fueled Taxi exhaust that had dropped a fare in the location.

24/08/2003 1229Hrs. Pumper and crew responded to wires down at Corlette. Found tree had come down in a storm, taking a number of power lines with it, stood by until area was made safe.

31/08/2003 1237Hrs. Composite responded to wires down at Tomago, and receiveda call off before leaving station.

03/09/2003 1602Hrs. Pumper called to a scrub fire at Corlette and extinguished small area of bush.

06/09/2003 1748Hrs. Pumper again called to scrub fire at Corlette and extinguished an area of bush.

08/09/2003 0944Hrs. Called to a MVA Nelson Bay, investigation only and returned to station.

11/09/2003 0801Hrs. Pumper responded to wharf alight at Little Beach. On arrival found pylon smouldering and extinguished using buckets of sea water.

13/09/2003 1425Hrs. Nelson Bay bin fire was extinguished using high pressure hose reel.

20/09/2003 1242Hrs. Called to MVA Nelson Bay and called off enroute.

21/09/2003 1333Hrs. Pumper and composite/hazmat trailer responded to car leaking fuel in Salamander Bay. Vehicle was located about twenty metres from shore in water and was dragged onto the beach using Police 4WD winch as fuel was being displaced by rising tide entering fuel tank.

22/09/2003 1525Hrs. Pumper responded to backyard fire at Corlette during total fire ban. Fire extinguished.

23/09/2003 1836Hrs. Called to MVA persons trapped at Anna Bay. Called off enroute and returned to station.

24/09/2003 0929Hrs. Pumper and composite responded to Salamander Bay, smoke in vincinity. In a joint operation with Rural Fire Service units, extinguished a bush fire threatening property.

25/09/2003 1329Hrs. Pumper and crew responded to a snake under vehicle in Nelson Bay. One black snake captured and re-located to Tomaree National Park.

26/09/2003 1130Hrs. Pumper investigated smoke in vicinity of Corlette. No sign of fire, smoke drifting from bush fires across bay.

27/09/2003 1632Hrs. Pumper extinguished scrub fire at Corlette during total fire ban.

27/09/2003 1752Hrs. Pumper responded to BBQ fire at Corlette and extinguished during total fire ban.

27/09/2003 1810Hrs. Pumper attended another BBQ while returning to station, fire extinguished by public during total fire ban.

28/09/2003 0254Hrs. Investigated cause of alarm ringing at Corlette residence, found no sign of fire.

28/09/2003 1616Hrs. Pumper crew extinguished a small grass fire at Salamander Bay.

28/09/2003 2255Hrs. Called to alarm ringing at Corlette residence and found flat battery in smoke detector, disconnected and advised resident to replace next day.

Incidents for October 2003.

01/10/2003 1416Hrs. Pumper called to MVA person trapped at Nelson Bay, on arrival found all occupants out of vehicle. No further action required.

01/10/2003 1600Hrs. Responded to power pole alight at Nelson Bay. On arrival found service mains damaged during high winds, area was safe and called for electricity supply authority to repair cables.

04/10/2003 1107Hrs. Ambulance officers required assistance at Anna Bay to remove injured male from second floor unit. Patient was carried from unit down difficult stairs using the pumper's stokes litter.

06/10/2003 1607Hrs. Pumper and Composite were responded to a leaking gas cylinder at Shoal Bay. A water fog was directed at the 9kg cylinder until gas had decanted. Area was then checked with the pumper's gas detector for any gas build up.

09/10/2003 1314Hrs. Attended a hydraulic oil leak from a garbage compactor truck at Corlette. Area covered with absorbant and made safe.

11/10/2003 0119Hrs. Called to "bushfire" at Shoal Bay. On arrival found no sign of fire in the area.

17/10/2003 0512Hrs. Called to "Alarm Ringing" at Salamander Bay. On arrival found AFA had activated with no sign of fire.

17/11/2003 1240Hrs. Pumper was responded to an MVA at Shoal Bay. On arrival found a motorcycle had been involved in an accident with the rider deceased. A small area of oil was made safe and assistance given to Police.

22/10/2003 0818Hrs. Pumper and crew responded to a bushfire in Nelson Bay and again found no sign of fire in the area.

27/10/2003 1705Hrs. Pumper attended an "Unknown Type" incident at Nelson Bay Marina. After investigation no sign of fire or hazmat could be found.

Incidents for November 2003.

01/11/2003 1104Hrs. Both appliances responded to bush alight in RFS area on Gan Gan hill Nelson Bay. Fire was extinguished using appliance hose reels.

05/11/2003 1023Hrs. Pumper responded to a MVA Person Trapped at Nelson Bay. On arrival found injured driver sitting in vehicle being treated by Ambulance Officers. Provided fire protection and assisted Ambulance crew.

05/11/2003 1316Hrs. A small area of bush at Corlette was extinguished by pumper crew using HP hose reel.

08/11/2003 1439Hrs. Pumper responded to "Unknown" incident at Shaol Bay. After investigation believe call was a malicious false alarm.

13/11/2003 1829Hrs. Called on to assist loacal Ambulance Officers with patient at Nelson Bay.

15/11/2003 1546Hrs. Pumper and crew responded to a BBQ alight at Corlette. On arrival found that neighbours had extinguished a fire which appeared to have started from spontaneous combustion of rags staurated with linseed oil that had been used to re-oil outdoor wooden furniture.

15/11/2003 2252Hrs. Called to a house fire at Shoal Bay but on arrival found call was probably for smoke in vicinity and no house fire was found.

16/11/2003 0459Hrs. Responded to a house fire at Lemon Tree Passage, Pumper received a call off enroute and returned to station.

18/11/2003 1751Hrs. Pumper and crew responded to a mallicious false alarm at Shoal Bay.

21/11/2003 0037Hrs. Both Rescue Pumper and Tanker responded to a unit fire at Nelson Bay. On arrival crews found smoke issueing from a two unit building. Crews in breathing apparatus extinguished a well developed fire in the ceiling and one unit. Extensive damage was caused to the building and contents from fire, smoke, heat and water.

24/11/2003 1149Hrs. Rescue Pumper responded to house alight at Nelson Bay. On arrival found resident burning cardboard boxes next to the house which he had extinguished using a garden hose.

25/11/2003 1128Hrs. Rescue pumper and tanker responded to single vehicle MVA with RFS tanker at Shoal Bay. One female driver was released and conveyed to hospital by road ambulance.

28/11/2003 0508Hrs. Both appliances called to house fire at Fingal Bay. On arrival found earth moving equipment had been the object of an arson attack and was being extinguished by RFS tanker crew.

Incidents for December 2003.

13/12/2003 1435Hrs. Rescue Pumper was responded to a MVA at One Mile Beach, persons trapped. On arrival found single vehicle 4WD had overturned and all occupants out of vehicle. No further action required.

20/12/2003 1245Hrs. Called to a grass fire at Nelson Bay, on arrival found small fire had been extinguished by civilians.

23/12/2003 1302Hrs. Called to another grass fire at Corlette and extinguished fire with high pressure first response hoseline. 24/12/2003 1513Hrs. Attended to a number of oil spills through Nelson Bay township and covered with absorbant. 27/12/2003 0920Hrs. Attended another oil spill at Nelson Bay as a result of motor vehicle accident.

27/12/2003 1919Hrs. Both appliances attended a derelict house where a rubbish fire had been set in two internal locations. Extinguished using two lines of 38mm hose.

28/12/2003 0833Hrs. Both appliances responded to Shop Alight. On arrival found fire had been extinguished and a shop employee had sustained burns to her arms. The fire was from cleaning solvents igniting during daily food preparation area cleaning.

28/12/2003 2327Hrs. Rescue Pumper attended a Nelson Bay location after a MVA had been reported. On arrival found no sign of incident.

31/12/2003 1831Hrs. Rescue Pumper responded to BBQ Exploded at Fingal Bay. On arrival found Ambulance Officers attending four injured people and fire extinguished. Assisted Ambulance Officers with injured people with three airlifted by helicopter to hospital with serious burns and the fourth conveyed by road ambulance.

31/12/2003 2358Hrs. Called to bush fire at Nelson Bay. On arrival found a bonfire had been extinguished and no further action required.
