MVA Bobs Farm - 7th January 2001


On the 7th January 2001, Pumper 402 was responded to a motor vehicle accident, persons trapped on Nelson Bay Road at Bobs Farm. On arrival the crew reported a two vehicle head on MVA with Police, Ambulance and Rural fire Service in attendance. One driver was deceased while the second was seriously injured and trapped. Rescue equipment was setup and the injured driver was released after removal of the drivers door. He was treated on the scene and transported by helicopter to hospital.

Nelson Bay Road was closed for some hours while Police Crash Investigation gathered evidence. At this time of year traffic soon banked up many kilometres in each direction. When permitted, rescue firefighters removed the deceased driver. Assisted by RFS firefighters, oil and debris was cleared and the only road to Nelson Bay was reopened.
